The Wise Man's Mask is a piece of head slot DLC Armor added to Elden Ring by the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. You can get the Wise Man's Mask either by defeating Ansbach in Shadow Keep or by picking up a glowing item in the Final Boss room of Enir-Ilim after fully completing Ansbach's Questline. This mask is part of Ansbach's Set, which includes the Wise Man's Mask, Ansbach's Attire, Ansbach's Manchettes, and Ansbach's Boots.

The iron mask of Sir Ansbach, giving the appearance of a quiet, wise, old bearded man. But an old fear lurks beneath, together with the cold, unflinching discipline that once honed his blade, now employed to enhance Blood Oath and dynastic skills.

Where to Get the Wise Man's Mask

Depending on your decisions and actions during your adventure, you can get the Wise Man's Mask either by defeating Ansbach in Shadow Keep or by picking up a glowing item in the Final Boss room of Enir-Ilim after fully completing Ansbach's Questline. The earliest location you can get the Wise Man's Mask is in the Shadow Keep Specimen Storehouse, which involves using a Red Summon Sign to assist Leda in defeating Ansbach and ending his questline early.

How to Get the Wise Man's Mask in Shadow Keep

To get Wise Man's Mask in Shadow Keep (which ends Ansbach's questline early), you'll need to turn Leda against Ansbach, which is done by either helping Leda defeat Hornsent in Shadow Keep or skipping the fight between them and summoning Hornsent to defeat Messmer the Impaler instead. After that, you'll need to speak with Leda at the Highland Cross site of grace to learn of her plans to slay Ansbach next (if she doesn't share these plans, try passing time at the nearby site of grace and speak with her again).

Next, you'll need Ansbach to leave Shadow Keep, which is triggered by giving him the Secret Rite Scroll while he's on the first floor of the Shadow Keep Specimen Storehouse in a small room, which we've circled on the map above.

However, before giving Ansbach the Secret Rite Scroll, we strongly recommend you first exhaust all dialogue with Freyja at the Storehouse, Seventh Floor site of grace and then tell Ansbach about Freyja's decision. Doing this should keep Ansbach in Shadow Keep long enough for you to get the Letter For Freyja key item from him and relay messages between the two characters until you've exhausted both their dialogues (if Ansbach keeps repeating the words "The absolute folly of it all," you may need to fast travel to the nearest site of grace and then speak to him again to get the Letter For Freyja).

Finally, after turning Leda against Ansbach and exhausting Freyja and Ansbach's dialogue in the Specimen Storehouse, fast travel to the Storehouse, First Floor site of grace and then head back to where Ansbach was on the first floor of the Specimen Storehouse. There, you'll find two summon signs, one red and one gold. Using the Red Summon Sign to assist Leda in defeating Ansbach will reward you with Wise Man's Mask, along with the rest of Ansbach's Set of armor and Ansbach's Longbow, but it will also end his questline early (preventing you from collecting the Obsidian Lamina later on).

If you use the Gold Summon Sign here and successfully assist Ansbach, you'll be rewarded with Ansbach's Longbow, Leda's Rune (worth 40,000 Runes), and the ability to get Ansbach's Armor Set and the Obsidian Lamina Reaper weapon much later on in Enir-Ilim.

Where to Get the Wise Man's Mask in Enir-Ilim

If you didn't end Ansbach's Questline early in Shadow Keep, you can get the Wise Man's Mask by picking up the glowing item found next to Ansbach nearby the Gate of Divinity site of grace at the peak of the Enir-Ilim legacy dungeon after fully completing Ansbach's questline. To reach Ansbach's location near the Gate of Divinity site of grace, which we've circled on the map below, you must first make your way through the uppermost levels of Enir-Ilim and defeat the final boss of the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC.

Once you reach the Final Boss door, summon Ansbach, and then proceed into the Final Boss room. After defeating the final boss, head directly east from the Gate of Divinity site of grace, where you'll find Ansbach next to a stone wall. Pick up the glowing item found at Ansbach's feet and you'll get the Wise Man's Mask, along with the rest of Ansbach's Set of armor and his Obsidian Lamina, and you're all set!
