Ansbach's Longbow - Elden Ring Guide - IGN (2024)

Ansbach's Longbow is a Bow DLC Weapon added to Elden Ring by the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. You can get Ansbach's Longbow by using the Gold or Red Summon Signs found on the First Floor of the Shadow Keep Specimen Storehouse to either assist or defeat Ansbach during the Ansbach Questline. This Bow does physical damage, has 50 range, requires 43 Dexterity to wield, and allows you to use its unique Fan Shot weapon skill to ready eight arrows and loose them in a narrow arc that can hit multiple targets at once.

Where to Get Ansbach's Longbow

You can get Ansbach's Longbow by using the Gold or Red Summon Signs, found in a small room on the north side of the Shadow Keep Specimen Storehouse's First Floor, to either assist or defeat Ansbach during the Ansbach Questline. Using these summon signs will allow you to choose whether to help Ansbach or help Leda at the point where their questlines can overlap. If you choose to assist Leda in defeating Ansbach, you'll receive Ansbach's Bow and Ansbach's Armor Set, but you'll also end his questline early. If you choose to assist Sir Ansbach in defeating Leda, you'll get his Longbow, and the ability to get Ansbach's Set of armor and Obsidian Lamina Reaper later on.

How to Get Ansbach's Longbow

To get Ansbach's Longbow, you'll first need to break the Great Rune, which occurs by standing at the Main Gate of Shadow Keep in north Scadu Altus—doing this will set characters in motion and cause Ansbach to head to Shadow Keep once you reach its Specimen Storehouse. However, before heading to the Specimen Storehouse after the Great Rune breaks, we recommend exhausting all dialogue with Ansbach, Leda, Hornsent, Freyja, Moore, and Thiollier.

Next, you'll need to turn Leda's attention toward Ansbach, which is done by either helping Leda defeat Hornsent in Shadow Keep or skipping the fight between them and summoning Hornsent to defeat Messmer the Impaler instead. After that, you'll need to speak with Leda at the Highland Cross site of grace to learn of her plans to slay Ansbach next (if she doesn't share these plans, try passing time at the nearby site of grace and speak with her again).

Lastly, you'll need Ansbach to leave Shadow Keep, which is triggered by giving him the Secret Rite Scroll while he's on the First Floor of the Shadow Keep Specimen Storehouse and then resting at a site of grace—However, before giving Ansbach this scroll, we strongly recommend you first exhaust all dialogue with Freyja at the Storehouse, Seventh Floor site of grace and then tell Ansbach about Freyja's decision. Doing this should keep Ansbach in Shadow Keep long enough for you to get the Letter For Freyja key item from him and relay messages between the two characters until you've exhausted both their dialogues (if Ansbach keeps repeating the words "The absolute folly of it all," you may need to fast travel to the nearest site of grace and then speak to him again to get the Letter For Freyja).

Finally, after turning Leda's attention toward Ansbach and exhausting Freyja and Ansbach's dialogue in the Specimen Storehouse, fast travel to the Storehouse, First Floor site of grace and then head back to where Ansbach was on the first floor of the Specimen Storehouse. There, you'll find two summon signs, one red and one gold.

If you use the Red Summon Sign, you'll assist Leda in defeating Ansbach, ending Ansbach's questline early but immediately rewarding you with Ansbach's Longbow and Ansbach's Set of armor. However, if you use the Gold Summon Sign to assist Ansbach, you'll be rewarded with Ansbach's Longbow, Leda's Rune (worth 40,000 Runes), and the ability to get the Obsidian Lamina Reaper weapon and Ansbach's Set of armor later on. So, if you'd like to collect Ansbach's Longbow now and the Obsidian Lamina later, we recommend using the Gold Summon Sign.

Ansbach's Longbow Description

Weapon of Sir Ansbach. A longbow consisting of two bow bodies and two strings. Unusually for a longbow, it can be wielded similarly to a light bow—provided that the wielder has the extraordinary dexterity demanded.

Ansbach's Longbow Unique Weapon Skill

Ansbach's Longbow Unique Weapon Skill is Fan Shot: This skill uses the bow held horizontally. Readies eight arrows at once, firing them in a fan-shaped arc.
