How can I go to the SquidFest Festival?

With the name SquidFest, you'll already have an idea on what kind of creature you'll be catching for this event. The Squid can be caught only during the Winter season, and they can be fished in the Ocean during a specific time. With this in mind, the SquidFest event will also be held at the beach area since this is the place where you can find squid.

The SquidFest is scheduled during Winter 12th and 13th. Upon entering the beach, you can head to the left side by the docks and find that there are several people fishing. There's also nice art for the SquidFest that you can see. Take note that if you participate in the festival, shops in town will still be following their schedules. Also, don't forget to feed your animals before leaving (unless they already have an auto feeder).

What activities can you do at the SquidFest Festival?

Similar to the other activities related to fishing such as the Festival of Ice and the Trout Derby, your goal during the SquidFest is for you to catch a lot of Squid. Thanks to the event, Squid will be available all day and they're not limited to their regular time schedule.

Thankfully the rules of the SquidFest are quite simple, you just need to catch as much Squid as you can in order to exchange prizes of different tiers. Also, the prizes that you can get will differ on each day, so try to aim to get all possible rewards within both days of the event.

Your starting prize will be from the Copper Tier, and then you'll move to the next tiers which are ron, Gold, and Iridium and they'll have an increased number of Squid required for getting the prize. Each tier has guaranteed rewards, alongside possible rewards given at random. Here's the list of rewards for both days of the event.

Winter 12th rewards

Tier Squid Needed Possible Rewards Notes
Copper 1 Deluxe Bait (20) Guaranteed reward
Iron 3 Dish O' The Sea (1), Winter Seeds (10) or Mystery Box (2) Guaranteed Dish O' The Sea and either of the other rewards.
Gold 5 Pearl (1), Coffee (3) Guaranteed both rewards
Iridium 8 Squid Kid (1), The Art O' Crabbing (1), Mystery Box (3) or Seafoam Pudding (1) Guaranteed Squid Kid, and The Art O' Crabbing (if you don't have it yet). If you have The Art O' Crabbing, you get either of the other rewards.

Winter 13th rewards

Tier Squid Needed Possible Rewards Notes
Copper 2 Trap Bobber (1) Guaranteed reward
Iron 5 Dish O' The Sea (1), Winter Seeds (15) or Mystery Box (3) Guaranteed Dish O' The Sea and either of the other rewards.
Gold 7 Treasure Chest (1), Triple Shot Espresso (3) Guaranteed both rewards
Iridium 10 Squid Hat (1), The Art O' Crabbing (1), Mystery Box (3), Seafoam Pudding (1) Guaranteed Squid Hat, and The Art O' Crabbing (if you don't have it yet). If you have The Art O' Crabbing, you get either of the other rewards.

Tips for Fishing: Try to max out your fishing skill in order to make it easier for you to catch the Squid. The event won't give you any increased chances for catching squid, so you'll want to alter that by using Squid Bait which can be made using a Bait Maker. You can craft the Bait Maker once you reach level 6 in your fishing skill.

Adding squid to the Bait Maker will give you Squid Bait, and this will increase your chances of catching them. For each squid that you place in the Bait Maker, you can receive 5 to 10 Squid bait. This means that you'll need to do some preparation in advance for the event since it takes 10 minutes in-game to process the bait. Aside from Squid Bait, you can also use an Iridium Rod (or Advanced Iridium Rod if you have Fishing Mastery) as well as a Cork Bobber to help with your catching chances. Once you catch all squid required, you should be able to get all possible prizes from the event.
