To begin, Basis Peoria is a relatively small school It is academically driven and quite challenging. That being said you will not get the traditional high school experience at this school. There is no football field, no easy classes, and no large buildings. On the contrary basis is a small school with a small class size. But it ensures you will be completely prepared for college. Small class size means you have a greater opportunity to connect with teachers and get individual attention. The teachers will also expect the best out of you, and will always be there for you if you need help. Furthermore, certain AP courses are required for the curriculum which already puts you ahead of most high school students. Academically Basis Peoria was ranked 1st out of all high schools in the US. Aside from that, the school pays for your AP courses and also has college counselors. Overall i feel very prepared for college.

This is an education-oriented school which means there is an opportunity cost to being the #1 high school in Arizona. That cost is a lack of funding for other activities such as sports and a subpar school culture.

BASIS Peoria is a very academically challenging school that prepares students for college. Through AP tests, and a thorough STEM curriculum starting at 6th grade, the school focuses on giving students a holistic background.

BASIS Peoria does a very good job in promoting AP courses to its students. In fact, it's mandatory to take at least a couple of AP Classes for high school. In this regard, BASIS does a good job preparing you for college by being constantly exposed to advanced courses. However, class choice is very limited, with a very rigid curriculum all the way up until senior year, where you get a little bit more freedom to choose your capstone courses. The curriculum is also extremely STEM-heavy and there's very little space for the fine arts. Clubs at the school are generally okay, but there's not much choice in choosing clubs .

There was an amazing curriculum at BASIS with it always having AP classes and honors classes. It was lacking in most other departments like facilities and sports. I want to see more diversity in terms of more sports and better facilities.

All in all, my experience at BASIS Peoria consists of a lot of different things. For one, there is oftentimes a toxic competitive environment since everything is very centered around grades. Secondly, school culture is scarce due to the lack of many sports teams or bonding opportunities outside of school. Lastly, the extracurricular activities offered at the school are minimal and lacking in scope, often encompassing only various aspects of STEM related activities.

The school itself is pretty focused on academics and rigorous courses. It has plenty of available APs you can take and most of the teachers are great. However, sometimes if you put a lot on your plate, the work-life balance can be a little rough. Also, the school itself isn't your typical high school, where it's only 9-12th grades, but it also has all of middle school as well. So with the extra people with the building itself it's kind of crowded at times, but at the same time it's also good because you get to know everyone even if you're not in the same grade. Recently, we've also started a student council, so now there's going to be a lot more student-led events and changes being made, so it should be a nice pace of change. Honestly, the thing I'd really like to be improved is the extracurriculars, there's a wonderful Speech and Debate team (ranked #1 in Arizona), but maybe more options and a larger focus on some of the other clubs and emphasis on them.

Basis Peoria has a very rigorous academic curriculum which helps prepare students for college but at the same time stresses students out to high levels which isn't good for their mental health. It is hard to maintain balance between school and social life as well. The sports program is a bit lacking as well as the arts program that could use more funding.

I absolutely adore the teachers and staff at Basis. Every teacher I've ever had has been incredibly helpful and effective in teaching us and providing support. However, I believe this is going to change soon, if it hasn't already changed. From what I've heard from my teachers, Basis pays much less than other schools in the area while expecting significantly more from them, and they make uo the difference from bonuses based on students' AP performance. A lot of highly qualified teachers have left the school to go to universities and other high schools, and the Basis admin. has focused on money, opting to hire relatively inexperienced and sometimes sketchy teachers to quickly fill positions. I also have found that the student community at Basis is very strange- we've all known each other since 5th grade, and because there are so few of us, tight cliques and social groups form, leaving no room for open socializing. There is also zero diversity- almost every student is Indian/Asian.

BASIS Peoria is definitely a rigorous school that requires a lot of time and effort to do well in. It definitely isn't for everyone, but if you do manage to stay and succeed it will definitely pay off in the long run. Many of the teachers will do their utmost to make sure that you learn properly, which is great considering how hard the content can be.

BASIS Peoria provides one of the best academic programs in the state, if not the entire country. In the short time I have been at this school, I am very pleased with the academic workload, both in terms of the course rigor and the homework given. There are lots of varieties of clubs, albeit they are mostly academic-based. I would say the extracurriculars are the weak side of the school, as most of them are competitive academic teams. There aren't many sports apart from the main ones that require a gym, but there isn't a swim or a tennis team (both are sports that I play). Most of my extracurriculars I have to pursue outside of school; however, the Speech and Debate team at my school is very strong and in my opinion isn't connected to academics. Finally, the kids are very focused here (especially once they get into high school), as they are focused on college applications but also want to have fun experiences with friends despite being at a small school.

Very intense curriculum and it can get very stressful sometimes. Students and teachers are very nice however to teach there, there isn't too much of an interview process.

I wish there was more variety in the curriculum and more of a focus on raising well rounded individuals rather than just getting good grades for colleges, however, I love the fact that this school is small and has a tight-knit community. The connections I've made with friends and teachers here are more significant than the cons of the school, at least for me.

If your looking for the best preparation for college you will find it at basis! It AP courses are challenging yet enjoyable. Any help you need you will find with the teachers who all seek to prepare you for college. It does require hard work but as a senior I've realized all of it was worth it to get into top schools and multiple scholarship opportunities with ease.

I loved that Basis trained me to do work quickly and plow through because college is much easier now, but at such an impressionable age we were loaded with copious amounts of work and treated as if our struggles with juggling all the classes were our fault. Yes, college classes are hard but you don't have 8 a day and you get to choose your focus. I understand Basis' goal but instead of challenging kids, it is more a business profiting off of using kids' test scores to become the number one school in the country. I had some of the worst teachers I have ever had at basis and there were multiple times that we signed petitions to get certain ones fired because the class was so fed up. We struggled to feel heard at all by the school and breaking a rule was treated so strictly even though teachers were constantly making kids cry in class for asking simple questions. Even with an annoying 8th grader a teacher should be patient, atleast to some degree, with young kids.

I hated it. It was awful. Truly revolting. I dont wish this upon anyone. Please do not send your kids here. It is just academics. Nothing beyond that. It is a terrible, stressful environment. Plus it lacks diversity.

Basis Peoria isn't a bad school per se. It does offer a variety of AP exams and the teachers (especially at the high school level) are extremely skilled and do contribute to the large amount of success during the standardized testing phases. The problem is the lack of both Non-AP classes and Dual Enrollment classes as well as the intense academic program that students are forced to partake in. BASIS Peoria does not offer ANY Dual Enrollment classes, despite the protests of many students throughout BASIS institutions. This forces students to take 3 hour exams of classes they may not even enjoy or want to partake in at all. Moreover, if a student is in an AP Class that they find either too difficult or not to their liking, that student is forced to take that class throughout the entire year with no option to drop out of it. However, BASIS is a great school in terms of college prep as it does allow for students to learn time management and how to prioritize certain things over the other.

The best thing about Basis is the people. The school is a very difficult school. Every grade's curriculum is 2 years ahead of what normal public schools due so it is a very rigorous environment. However, the friends you will make here will most likely be your friends for life. Being in an environment like this, you and your grade are like comrades on the battlefield. You guys become friends due to the shared experiences and that bond will keep with you for years to come. The friends I have made at Basis Peoria are some of the best group of people I have ever met. They are always there for me and always pick me up when I am down and I hope I do the same for them. The school might be hard but the people you will meet here make it worth it.

While many schools in Arizona are exceptionally great. There is no school that I know of that can surpass BASIS Peoria, this school's curriculum is incomparable and puts more focus on your future and preparation for college than any of my friend's schools. The school has one of the most diverse collections of extracurriculars and is well known for admitting students into Harvard and other top universities. While the school's academics may seem stressful at times, you will one day look back and be glad you chose this school.
